About Us

Aloha! We are Darren & Nikki Ebisu.

We are a husband-and-wife team based in Honolulu, Hawaii. We started our business in 2014 by selling locally to Nikki's beginner violin students in Hawaii and decided to expand in 2015 and share our products with musicians across the country. We are not the manufacturer of these products but act as a dealer and representative for the Pacific region.

Darren Ebisu works in Business Account Management, and operates the logistics of Aloha Tuners. Darren is originally from Hawaii and is a graduate of the reputable Punahou School (the alma mater of President Obama). He studied business at Seattle University and Sophia University in Tokyo. After 10 years in Seattle working for the Seattle Mariners and Brooks Sports, he returned to the islands to start a family. Darren now works for an HR Firm in Hawaii.

Darren is an avid sports fan and loves baseball. Darren is not a musician, but is very supportive of what we do!

Dr. Nikki Routman Ebisu enjoys a distinguished career as professional symphony violinist, teacher and clinician. As a performer, Nikki is a member of the Hawaii Symphony. As an educator, Nikki is in large demand as a Japanese-bilingual Suzuki Method instructor, having studied directly under Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, the founder of the Suzuki Method. She serves as the Owner and Director of the Violin Artistry Studio in Honolulu, Hawaii. She aspires to become a Suzuki teacher trainer for the SAA and spread her love and joy of music!

Nikki was raised in Japan, but moved to the United States as a teenager. She received her Bachelors degree in Music and Pre-Medicine from the University of Texas at Austin and her Masters and Doctoral degrees in Violin Performance from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Darren & Nikki have two adorable little children, ages 3 & 5  :)

Here were are with dear friend and ukulele legend Jake Shimabukuro, at the Hawaii Symphony post-concert reception. (The HSO performed the world-premiere of Dr. Byron Yasui's Ukulele Concerto in 2015, featuring Jake.) Darren and Jake grew up together as calabash "hanai" cousins and Nikki performs with Jake on gigs often, so we consider Jake as part of extended family! (besides...Don't Darren and Jake look alike?)
